A beautiful island

St. Lucia is located in the Windward Islands not far from South America. To the north is Martinique and to the south is St. Vincent. St. Lucia is of volcanic origin with steep slopes and lush vegetation. It is one of the most beautiful islands in the entire Caribbean, and that is why we went there. The people are friendly with both English and French heritage. They speak English and are well mannered in the British tradition.

St. Lucia has many very nice hotels and resorts where you can enjoy life to the utmost. A number of the resorts are decidedly upscale. There are beautiful beaches. This is a great place for a family vacation. It is also a favorite of honeymooners. In fact, a lot of couples choose to get married on the island, and then stay for their honeymoons.

Northern part of island

On the north end of St. Lucia is Pigeon Island. It has a beautiful park-like setting and contains the ruins of Rodney Fort. An old cannon can be found at the lookout where they once watched for invasion forces arriving by sea. Be sure to climb to the top of the lookout. On a clear day you can see Martinique. This end of the island, which includes the capital city of Castries, has many places to shop and lots of night life.

In the southwest

The most beautiful part of St. Lucia is in the southwest near the town of Soufriere. There you can see the magnificent view of the Pitons, two volcanic cones that rise out of the Caribbean Sea as mountains. They are pictured on the Homepage. You can take guided tours of a rain forest, an old coffee plantation, and sulfur springs where the hot bubbling water has the appearance of a volcano. This is also a great place to go sailing, SCUBA diving, and snorkeling. Most of all, this is a great place to relax and enjoy life.
